The short answer. Both are good UK planners and both cost more than they need to. Scenarios.uk runs 1,000 Monte Carlo simulations and publishes its methodology; MyFinanceFuture builds one detailed deterministic plan you stress-test by hand, and goes deeper on defined-benefit pensions than anything else in UK consumer software. WealthR runs 5,000 simulated paths — five times Scenarios, and MyFinanceFuture runs none — for £39.99 a year against £72 and £95. It is also the only one of the three that is a net-worth tracker as well as a planner, the only one whose free tier includes the full UK income tax calculator, and the only one that holds your price for as long as you stay subscribed.
The thing both of them leave out
Scenarios and MyFinanceFuture answer one question extremely well: will my retirement plan hold? Neither answers the question you ask every other month of your life — what am I actually worth, and is it going up?
WealthR does both. It is a month-by-month net-worth tracker across pensions, ISAs, property, savings and crypto, with a Performance tab that separates what you paid in from what actually grew, a dividend income planner, inheritance tax, and the full UK income tax picture — Scottish bands, National Insurance, the £100,000 personal-allowance taper, the High-Income Child Benefit Charge, capital gains. The retirement planner sits on top of that, reading the same figures.
So you are not keeping a planner in one place and your actual money in a spreadsheet somewhere else. That is the structural difference, and it is the reason the price comparison below is not close.

On price, this one is not close. WealthR Pro is 45% cheaper than Scenarios and 58% cheaper than MyFinanceFuture, and it is the only one of the three with a monthly option, so you can try a month rather than committing a year up front. It also runs five times as many simulated paths as Scenarios and MyFinanceFuture runs none at all.
What each does well
Where Scenarios.uk is stronger
Its simulation engine is more sophisticated per path than ours. Returns across seven asset classes are generated through a calibrated correlation matrix, so a mixed portfolio's diversification benefit falls out of the maths rather than an assumption, and the random seed derives from your inputs so the same plan always returns the same answer. The methodology is published in full. It also ships plain-English AI explainers on each chart.
How much that matters depends on what you want from a simulation. More paths explore a wider range of outcomes; better-correlated paths model each one more faithfully. WealthR runs 5,000 to their 1,000; they model the relationship between asset classes more explicitly than we do. Both are defensible, and neither is the reason most people pick a planner.
Where MyFinanceFuture is stronger
It is the deepest tool in UK consumer software on defined-benefit pensions, and one thing deserves naming precisely because it can be worth real money. In several public-sector schemes, AVCs taken alongside the main benefits can be drawn as tax-free cash well beyond 25% of the AVC itself, because the 25% is measured across the combined benefits. MyFinanceFuture models that rule. WealthR does not yet, and for an affected member that means we under-state the tax-free cash available.
It also handles CARE versus final-salary basis, business assets and unlisted shares, AIM IHT shares, VCTs, EIS and SEIS, equity release and retirement interest-only mortgages. If your finances include those, it is modelling things nothing else here reaches.
What you weigh against it: it is deterministic, so you test one plan by hand against scenarios you think to try, rather than seeing a distribution across thousands you did not. Its free Basic tier cannot build a real plan. And at £95 a year it is the most expensive of the three.
What neither of them does
This is the part that decides it for most people, because it is not about retirement modelling at all.
- Track what you are worth, month by month. Neither is a net-worth tracker. Both model a future; neither keeps a running record of your actual present, so you end up maintaining your real figures somewhere else.
- Tell you whether your investments actually grew. WealthR's Performance tab separates money you paid in from money that grew, per holding. Without that, a pot that went up because you kept paying into it looks the same as one that performed.
- Handle your working-age tax. The High-Income Child Benefit Charge, Marriage Allowance, the £100,000 taper, student loan plans, company dividends. Both rivals start at retirement; a lot of money is won or lost before then.
- Give you anything useful without paying. Scenarios keeps full tax precision behind its paid tier; MyFinanceFuture's Basic tier cannot build a real plan. WealthR's free tier includes the full UK income tax calculator, net worth, forecasts, debt, retirement and the budget with no expiry — plus 32 free UK calculators that need no account at all.
- Hold your price. Neither offers it. WealthR's price is locked until 6 April 2027 and stays with you afterwards for as long as your subscription stays active.
When to choose which
Choose WealthR if…
- you want one place for your whole money picture, not a retirement model you visit twice a year
- you want to know whether your investments are actually growing, not just whether the pot is bigger
- your tax life is happening now — child benefit, the £100k cliff, dividends, a student loan
- you would rather pay £39.99 than £72 or £95, or try a month at £5.99 before committing
- you want a free tier you can keep using indefinitely
- you want today's price to be the price you keep
Choose Scenarios.uk if…
- the simulation method is the point, and you want correlated asset returns with a published methodology
- you want a reproducible result from the same inputs every time
- you are happy to pay £72 a year for a retirement planner alone
Choose MyFinanceFuture if…
- you are a public-sector DB member paying AVCs and need the combined-benefits tax-free cash rule modelled
- your finances include business assets, unlisted shares, VCTs, EIS or SEIS
- you prefer one detailed plan you stress-test by hand over a probability distribution
The price you join at is the price you keep
WealthR Pro is £5.99 a month or £39.99 a year, and that price is locked until 6 April 2027. Subscribe before then and you keep it for as long as your subscription stays active — it does not rise underneath you later. Cancel and come back afterwards and you pay whatever the price is at that point.
Our price does go up on 6 April 2027 for new subscribers from that date. Everyone already subscribed keeps what they joined at. Neither Scenarios nor MyFinanceFuture offers a price hold, and it is the one claim here that a competitor cannot undercut by changing their own pricing.
Try it free, for as long as you like. Net worth, forecasts, debt, retirement, dividends, the full UK tax calculator and the budget are free with no expiry — and 32 UK calculators need no account at all.
